hey, i'm jodi.
I went from solo doula to agency owner to building the community I wish I'd had from the start.
Now I help other doulas do the same.
here's the real story
It started with my own births and a pull I couldn't ignore....
My journey into the perinatal world began the way it does for so many doulas — with my own experience. I had two of my three daughters at home, right here in Boston, and those births changed everything for me. I knew I wanted to be part of that experience for other families. So I became a certified Postpartum Doula and Lactation Educator, and I started showing up for every family I could.
and then the business grew faster than I expected...
One doula practice became an agency. One calling became a mission.
The demand for quality doula care kept growing — and I couldn't serve every family alone. So I did what no one teaches you how to do in doula training: I built an agency. Hip to Heart grew into a team of over 60 doulas providing birth and postpartum support across the Boston area. I figured out hiring, scheduling, pricing, contracts, and team management — most of it the hard way.
Along the way, I joined the CAPPA Faculty as the Postpartum Doula and Lactation Educator Trainer for all of New England. And I kept hearing the same thing from every doula I trained: "I love this work, but nobody taught me how to run the business." That sentence is the reason Birth Boss Society exists.
so I built what I wished I'd had...
Birth Boss Society is everything I would have wanted on day one.
I took every lesson from building an agency — the wins, the expensive mistakes, the systems that actually work — and turned them into resources, programs, and a community for doulas who refuse to choose between doing meaningful work and building a sustainable business. Whether you're booking your first clients or leading a team of doulas, this is the place where you stop figuring it out alone.
