I cannot recommend the CAPPA postpartum doula training taught by Jodi Krentzman of Hip to Heart highly enough! The training itself was comprehensive and I learned more than I had expected to in that weekend. Jodi as a teacher is impeccable and simply a wealth of knowledge. She’s organized, thorough, and was great at holding the attention of the participants. She created an environment that was not only fun and entertaining but felt fulfilling as well. We covered everything from mother and newborn care to organizing your practice and marketing (And everything in between!). Her support does not stop after the training is over though. Jodi has been a huge support to me since the training. She always makes time to answer my questions and has been a tremendous help in growing my doula practice. As a successful postpartum doula who got started with my doula career after attending Jodi’s training, I encourage anyone feeling called to this work or who may be considering attending any of Jodi’s trainings to take the leap. It’s a weekend well spent!

In 2011 I learned that a postpartum doula was a job and one that I wanted! A few trusted local birth doulas encouraged me to contact CAPPA to bring a training to my area, so I did! Jodi and I worked through the trials and tribulations of gathering folks to commit to the training and she arrived in Richmond in November. The 6 of us spent 2 days in the basement of a local maternity shop going over all the things that postpartum doulas need to know to take care of the families they work with. Over the next several years Jodi was my go to: she helped me develop my business from the ground up and she helped me along the path to certification. Now I have a team of independent contractor doulas, a brick-and-mortar, and contracts booked out 9 months in advance! It all started in that basement 7 years ago!
