Owner of Hip to Heart Jodi Congdon Doula and Lactation Educator and Newborn Care Specialist

My name is Jodi Congdon

I’m the founder and owner of Hip to Heart.

Giving birth was a life changing experience for me and was ultimately what made me decide to get involved in pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding as a career.  I feel compelled to educate women on the options and choices they have for their births to try and make each and every experience the very best it can be. I know how important the postpartum time is and my priority is to support new moms to the fullest capacity.

You could say that I am obsessed with all things birth, moms and babies! I love to learn and strive for expertise in my field. I am a trained Labor Doula and Childbirth Educator as well as a certified Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula. I am also a member of the CAPPA Faculty as the Postpartum Doula and Lactation Educator Trainer for New England. I recently took a New Parent Educator and an Advanced Multiples Training. In addition to that, I am also a Certified Health and Wellness Coach specializing in prenatal and postpartum women.

Breastfeeding has been a huge part of my life for the past few years and one of the greatest gifts that I have given my three daughters. It is one of my favorite classes to teach and I’m always trying to find new and innovative ways to educate expecting families about its benefits. I recently started One Out Now, a campaign to normalize breastfeeding in public.

I reside in Foxboro with my husband, three lovely daughters (the last two were amazing homebirths!), two cats and a dog.

Sondra is first and foremost a mother – she has been in mindset her whole life, but since becoming a mother to her daughter Hazel more than 8 years ago, it has become clear that helping mothers and families is what she was meant to do. She had a postpartum doula to help her when her husband returned to traveling for work a week after their daughter was born, and suddenly the idea of a different kind of career seemed possible.

Sondra has a long history of teaching throughout her life – as a camp counselor, lifeguard, swimming instructor, public school English teacher, student travel educator, and now families with new little ones. She is passionate about having a gentle touch with every family and allowing them to flourish into the families that they have been hoping for. She adamantly believes that every family has their own “right” way of doing things, and her presence is as a guide and helping set of hands.

Sondra is a certified Postpartum Doula Care and Lactation Education with CAPPA and she also has two years of experience with in-home care of disabled adults. She is also certified in Adult and Infant CPR.

Sondra lives in Winthrop with her husband, daughter, and three cats. She serves Boston, the Metro area and the North Shore.

Jane is a CAPPA trained Postpartum Doula and Lactation Educator. She not only brings education to those she works with, but first-hand experience having gone through postpartum depression and anxiety after the birth of her first child. By speaking at conferences and various Boston area hospitals, Jane is making it her mission to educate new moms on self-care and the critical link there is between being a happy and healthy mom and having a happy and healthy baby. Her goal is making the transition to motherhood as stress-free as possible for mother and family while remaining unobtrusive.

Janes areas of specialty are IVF, Postpartum Mood Disorders, Multiples and Premature Infants. Jane has a BS from Boston University and studied Vocal Performance at New England Conservatory of Music. janelle is a nurse, labor & postpartum doula,

RN Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula, Lactation Educator

Janelle is a 3rd generation nurse and comes from a line of women who inherently advocate and nurture others. She’s a mother of 3 children: a 13yr old son born at Brigham and women’s hospital, a 9year old daughter born at Newton Wellesley and a 2.5 yr old daughter born at home, all with midwives. After giving birth to her son she knew she wanted to focus her career on women and birth. She loved her pregnancy and wanted every woman to feel supported. She thought that she could do that in the medical field but it just didn’t feel like enough time was spent with moms and families. She has experience in psych and years of nursing as an OB nurse and postpartum visiting nurse. She has enhanced her passion by taking enrichment certifications, such as childbirth education, full circle doula training and lactation. Over the years she’s been able to expand her knowledge and work with women throughout their journey to motherhood, and the before is just as exciting as the after! She looks forward to sharing her experience and all that she has learned along the way with clients.
